Mobile Coupons Won’t Be Clipped By Lagging Retail Technologies
Fortunately, all this talk of “world domination” has nothing to do with a stereotypical madman petting a white cat. This time around, it’s mobile coupons and their providers who are plotting to take over the world – the retail world, that is.
And, from the looks of it, not even lagging technologies have a license to kill the momentum of mobile coupons.
According to a new report from Juniper Research, the global redemption rate of mobile coupons will spike to well over 8% by 2016.
On the surface, 8% may not sound like much, but it’s an eightfold increase over even the best paper coupon campaigns, says Juniper. As a result, North American and Western European markets will keep heavily focusing on these in-demand discount delights.
By 2016, in fact, Juniper estimates that there will be more than 600 million “regular mobile coupon users” worldwide. By this time, redemption values will exceed $43 billion, a reality that will come to fruition by way of smarter advertisers and retailers learning to better target consumers via the mobile channel.
